2015 Zinfandel - Hillside Estate

2015 Zinfandel - Hillside Estate

Winemaker Notes

Sonoma County’s Dry Creek Valley is world renowned as the premier Zinfandel growing area. The 2015 originates from our estate vineyard adjacent to the Mill Creek Tasting Room in the Southern Dry Creek Valley.  The thin hillside soils are ideal for the defined, classic, Zinfandel fruit flavors the vineyard produces. After harvest, the clusters are gently de-stemmed and then filled into stainless steel tanks. Preceding the fermentation is a 5 day cold soak. The must is then inoculated with yeast then mixed 3 times per day to extract flavors, color, and tannin from the skins. After pressing, the new wine is filled into 50% new French oak barrels and aged for approximately 19 months.

Tasting Notes

This wine shows classic Zinfandel bramble and spice on the nose which lead to flavors that are layered and rich. Sweet blackberry, herbs, spice and vanilla precede ample acidity and tannin. Pair with baby back ribs, BBQ, hearty pasta dishes and flavorful charcuterie plates.
