2018 Zinfandel - Dry Creek Valley

2018 Zinfandel - Dry Creek Valley

Winemaker Notes

Our 2018 Dry Creek offering originates from 4 distinct vineyard sites. The largest portion, 60%, is grown by the owner’s nephew on the eastern bench of Dry Creek Valley. 19% is from Ray Teldeschi’s 105 year-old head pruned vines. 12% is from 130+ year old dry farmed vines in the Oakley area, and the remaining portion is Petite Sirah from our Estate in Southern Dry Creek.

All lots were hand-picked and sorted. The clusters were then 100% destemmed and fermented in stainless steel after 5-day cold soaks. During alcoholic fermentation, the wine was either pumped over or punched down 2-3 times per day. Following fermentation, the wines were aged separately in 1/3 new French oak for 18 months before being blended and bottled on July 8th, 2020.

Tasting Notes

Juicy, fruit forward aromas and flavors highlight this precise and remarkable vintage of Zinfandel. Blackberry pie, white pepper, plum, and vanilla bring a depth and interest to the wine. Appropriately structured, this offering can be aged for up to 7 years.
