Our 2012 Estate Merlot traces it's heritage back to 1976, the first year Mill Creek released a stand alone varietal Merlot. The grapes originated from our estate property in Dry Creek Valley. The wine was fermented in stainless steel tanks and was pumped over twice a day. After malolactic fermentation, the new wine was racked into 60 gallon French and American oak barrels then aged for 14 months. After a light filtration, the total production of approximately 552 cases was bottled on May 2, 2014. This Merlot begins with a nose of lavender, black cherry and creamy vanilla. Flavors are of chocolate and cherry. The wine has a medium ruby color and exhibits medium body with fine tannins. Try with blue cheese or grilled New York strip steak.
