2019 Gewurztraminer - Estate
GRAPE SOURCE: The Gewurztraminer block on our estate in the Dry Creek Valley was planted using graft wood from our original 1979 block. The vines produce small clusters with incredibly concentrated flavors. Our location at the southern end of Dry Creek Valley provides ample cool fog from our neighboring Russian River Valley.
WINEMAKING: The grapes were picked by hand early in the morning of September 18, 2019 at cool temperatures which preserves fruit aromas and flavors. After crushing, the wine was fermented using QA-23 yeast, and cool temperatures in order to preserve the distinctive Gewurztraminer attributes. The new wine was bottled on March 19, 2020.
WINEMAKER NOTES: A bouquet in a glass! This wine is very floral with strong rose petal notes on the nose. The taste is fresh and crisp with flavors of rose petal, mineral and green apple. It has a strong backbone of acidity which makes it fresh and clean with a significant lingering green apple finish.
