The Gewürztraminer block on our estate in the Dry Creek Valley was planted using graft wood from our original 1979 block. The vines produce small clusters with incredibly concentrated flavors. Our location at the southern end of Dry Creek provides ample cool fog from our neighboring Russian River Valley.
Harvest was early in the morning of September 3, 2018 so the grapes were delivered to the winery while cold. They are crushed, pressed then fermented in stainless steel tanks between 53°F and 60°F. The wine is allowed to age on the lees for 3 months and is then blended and bottled. The 2018 was bottled on February 25th, 2019.
A nose of rose petals, lychee fruit and tropical fruit gives way to flavors of lychee and orange zest with a hint of spice. Nearly dry, with RS of just .5, this wine shows ample acidity which complements food.
