The grapes for our Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon come exclusively from the western sloping hillside vineyard on the Kreck estate in Alexander Valley. This is property where Yvonne Kreck grew up and where our winemaker, Jeremy Kreck, and his two brothers were raised. As with our Dry Creek Valley vineyards, sustainable practices are utilized to minimize environmental impact. The grapes were picked by hand early in the mornings on October 7 and 8, 2014 at cool temperatures which preserves fruit aromas and flavors. After de-stemming and crushing, these grapes are fermented on their skins in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. After fermentation, they are aged in French and Hungarian oak barrels for close to two years. The nose of this wine is all classic rich Cabernet Sauvignon. The flavor is Bing cherry and tangy juniper spice. The finish is of ripe cherry and dark chocolate. Try this wine with steak in a rich, earthy sauce or with a marinated try-tip.
