This wine is 97% Merlot from our Alexander Valley property, and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon from the same property. Grapes were harvested on September 12, and 28 2004. After crushing the fruit, the juice was fermented in stainless steel tanks with pump-overs twice a day and punch downs three times a day. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is racked to and aged for 18 months in French oak (50% new barrels). After light filtration, total production was 125 cases.
The wine layers deep blackberry and cherry fruit with attractive French Oak. Seductive nuances and a velvety body fill out the mouth. A full-bodied wine that will age for several years to come. Pair with a sage grilled salmon or French onion soup. Sonoma County Harvest Fair Gold Medal Winner.
