This fruit was hand harvested in the early morning in mid and late October of 2018 from two separate blocks located on the Kreck family estate in Alexander Valley. It was then transported back to the winery before sunrise. This fruit was carefully destemmed and sorted and then transferred into open top bins for fermentation with hand punch down. After initial fermentation it was barreled down, finishing malolactic fermentation in the barrel. This wine was aged for 30 months in new and neutral French oak.
This wine has bright red fruit on the nose with hints of Bing cherry and briery blackberry. The mouthful is big, velvety and rich. Flavors are of rich red fruit with suggestions of fig, peppercorn and saffron. The finish is long, lingering and very pleasant. Delightful now but will continue to soften with age.
