2022 Chardonnay

Estate, Dry Creek Valley

Winemaker's Notes

The grapes for our Chardonnay come exclusively from the most southern block on our 65 acre estate in the Dry Creek Valley. The location near Dry Creek is influenced by the cool fog from the Russian River Valley and the daytime heat of Dry Creek. The grapes were picked early in the morning on September 2, 2022, at cool temperatures which preserves fruit aromas and flavors. Being so close to our vineyards, we have the luxury of being able to crush our fruit within minutes of harvest. After de-stemming, the juice was pressed off the skins and fermented in stainless steel for an extended duration which produces a flavorful wine reflective of the Chardonnay fruit. Following fermentation, the wine is aged in neutral oak for four months which contributes to a multilayered wine.  After aging the wine was bottled on April 20th, 2023.

Tasting Notes

The 2022 Estate Dry Creek Valley Chardonnay boasts a light straw hue, revealing an aroma rich in bright Chardonnay fruit, complemented by undertones of pear and a whisper of vanilla. On the palate, flavors of pear and ripe apple shine through, enhanced by a subtle touch of oak. The finish is characterized by hints of apple and pear, leading to moderate acidity and a medium-long, crisp finale. Given its light oak influence, this Chardonnay pairs exquisitely with dishes like pan-seared scallops or a comforting bowl of butternut squash soup. It's also an excellent choice as a refreshing aperitif.
