Our 2018 Dry Creek offering originates from our Hillside vineyard, just behind and above the tasting room. The grapes were hand-picked and sorted. The clusters were then 100% de-stemmed and fermented using BDX yeast after a 5-day cold soak. Part of the lot was fermented in open tanks and the other part was fermented in stainless steel. During alcoholic fermentation, the wine was either pumped over or punched down 2-3 times per day. Following fermentation, the wine was aged in 1/3 new French oak for 18 months before being blended and bottled on August 7th, 2020.
TASTING NOTES
Rich and succulent, the 2018 Hillside Zinfandel shows aromas of leather and blueberries followed by a very fruit forward loganberry flavor. The finish is all berry and clove and goes on and on. Try this delicious wine with steaks topped with gorgonzola or raviolis, lasagna, or any pasta in rich red sauce. |
