Winemaker's Notes

Situated on 44 magnificent acres in the foothills of Sonoma County’s Mayacamas Mountains, the Kreck Estate exudes the true expression of this one-of-a-kind wine growing area. An emerging star in the world of Cabernet and Bordeaux blends, the southern Alexander Valley has a serene elegance dotted with magnificent oaks and rolling hillside vineyards. With similarities to France’s wine region of Pauillac and the northern Napa Valley, the thin, nutrient deficient soils are ideal to grow wine grapes of exceptional depth and complexity. With meticulous care, and a unique micro-climate, the resulting wines are rich and layered with excellent aging potential. 

Our 2019 fruit was hand harvested on the 26th of September from three different blocks all located on the Kreck family estate in Alexander Valley. Each of these blocks was harvested at 26.2° brix, creating a balanced and uniform ripeness that shines through this charismatic blend. The Reflections blend was aged for 28 months in 100% new French oak. These barrels were carefully chosen to impart the exquisite aromatics and plush, supple fruit characteristics that make up this meticulously crafted wine.

Tasting Notes

By hand selecting the best fruit from our Alexander Valley Estate, the 2019 Reflections captures the complexity and elegance of a “Bordeaux” style blend. Aromas of sweet figs, cocoa, and violets curate an opening to the bouquet. Which is enhanced by aging in French Oak for more than two years, giving hints of long pepper and vanilla bean. This red wine is a shade of deep garnet and brilliantly opaque. On the palate, this wine shows dark cherries and ripe plums, juicy and perfectly balanced between bright acid and soft tannins. The tannins are pronounced but refined, as it evolves to a soft, silky finish. This wine pairs exquisitely with a well-seasoned filet mignon, mushroom risotto, or simply age it in your cellar for that special occasion.
