2021 Reserve Chardonnay

2021 Reserve Chardonnay

Dry Creek Valley

Winemaker's Notes

As in the wine above, the grapes for our Chardonnay come exclusively from the most southern block on our 65 acre estate in the Dry Creek Valley. The location near Dry Creek is influenced by the cool fog from the Russian River Valley and the daytime heat of Dry Creek. The grapes were picked early in the morning on September 3, 2021, at cool temperatures which preserves fruit aromas and flavors.  After de-stemming, the grapes were fermented in barrels. Following fermentation, the wine was aged in French oak for 9 months. The wine was bottled on August 2, 2022.

Tasting Notes

The 2021 Reserve Chardonnay presents a pale golden hue, revealing an aromatic blend of caramel sugars, rich butterscotch, and a whisper of clove. The palate is treated to a harmonious interplay of flavors: velvety butterscotch, vanilla, sweet caramel sugars, and the unique notes of fennel, clove, and cardinum. It concludes with a long finish, highlighting notes of apple and vanilla. This dry Chardonnay, with its balanced and memorable flavors, pairs exquisitely with dishes such as sage-roasted turkey or a creamy risotto, making it a versatile choice for many occasions.
