GRAPE SOURCE: The grapes for our Reflections blend come exclusively from the western sloping hillside vineyard on the Kreck estate in Alexander Valley. This is property where Yvonne Kreck grew up and where our winemaker, Jeremy Kreck, and his two brothers were raised. As with our Dry Creek Valley vineyards, sustainable practices are utilized to minimize environmental impact.
WINEMAKING: The grapes were picked by hand early in the morning on October 13 and October 20, 2012 at cool temperatures which preserves fruit aromas and flavors. This vineyard is only a 20-minute drive from our Dry Creek winery so we have the luxury of being able to crush our fruit within minutes of harvest. After de-stemming and crushing, these grapes are fermented on their skins in small tanks, using a hand punch-down method. The hand punch-down method creates wines of exceptional color and flavor. After fermentation, the wine is aged in 100% new French oak barrels for close to two years.
WINEMAKER NOTES: Dark purple in color with a complex nose of pepperwood, black currant and chocolate. Flavors are complex and layered. The finish is long and lingering of ripe plum, huckleberry and dark chocolate.
