Tasting Room

Mill Creek is open for tasting from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week. Visit our Events page for a listing of upcoming events at our tasting room and nationwide.

The public area of Mill Creek Vineyards consist of the following: A tasting room / sales room, which is the familiar Mill Creek "Mill" building with the attached water wheel and adjacent mill pond. The lower picnic area which is an easily accessible area, located just behind the tasting room and adjacent to the millpond, equipped with glass-topped picnic tables sized for four, with shade umbrellas. The upper picnic area is a 3,000 square foot deck, which is equipped with 15, 6' redwood picnic tables with attached benches. This deck is located on the hillside above the tasting room and offers expansive views of the southern end of the Dry Creek Valley and the town of Healdsburg in the distance. Three local mountains and the mountain range on the eastern side of the Napa Valley are also to be enjoyed from this location. To reach this deck, a short hike is required up an easy hillside path. For those with disabilities, or those needing to deliver supplies to the deck, there is a dirt road to the site.

Customers are welcome to use either picnic area for personal picnicking. We do ask that you call and make arrangements in advance for groups larger than eight. This ensures that you will have a comfortable spot to picnic and that we will be adequately staffed. In accordance with county zoning, we do need to ask that no alcoholic beverages of any kind be brought in. Only wine purchased in our tasting room is permitted on our grounds.

Neither of our picnic areas is available for rental. We do not do weddings or corporate type events. We happily do wine related events when the purpose of the group is to learn more about wine, the wine industry, or Mill Creek Vineyards.

In addition to the picnic areas we do have a Self-Guided Native Plant Walk. This is covered in more detail in a section under that name. The tasting room itself is largely made from local redwood. A number of very large, impressive beams are made from one tree that originated on the Kreck family's home ranch. Photos highlight the milling of those beams.

Tours of the winery are not available. On rare occasions we do educational tours or in-winery barrel tastings, with members of our Mill Creek wine club; Sequoia Club.

Mill Creek Vineyards is a working farming operation and winery. As such there are certain inherent dangers to persons not trained for those jobs and we ask that customers stay within the greater tasting-room, picnic deck area unless escorted by winery personnel.

Spring is everywhere!

It is spring! Everything is bursting into leaf and flower and the whole winery property is alive with activity. It seems whether it is around the tasting room, out in the vineyards, up at the winery, or at the office – every time you look around there is hustle bustle.

This is a very lush, green time in the county, as the hillsides are still green. There are flowers everywhere. Camellias, Azaleas, and Rhododendrons grow abundantly in Sonoma County. The Roses are budding out, as are the Iris. Moss on the trees, ferns, and new bright green leaves complete the picture.
